For children ages two through 6th Grade

Sundays from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
(Two-Year Old ChurchSchool begins at 9:30 a.m.)

Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
(Two-Year Old ChurchSchool begins at 6:45 p.m.)

*When a Milestone Ministry class is offered for your student, there will not be ChurchSchool classes that Sunday or Wednesday.

Curriculum

ChurchSchool will use a curriculum produced by Augsburg Fortress called Spark. Spark is lectionary-based, meaning the stories kids learn in ChurchSchool will be the same stories that are read in worship that week. All the generations will have heard and learned same biblical stories when they leave the church building each week! If you would like to know more about Spark, go to www.activatefaith.org.

Children's Music Ministry:

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. ~ Psalm 100:1

That whole psalm has always been a favorite of mine, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to make some "joyful noise" with the church school students this year. We will not be offering Angel or Cherub choir this year, instead, ALL of our church school students will spend some time each week singing, and we'll share our gift of song with the congregation during worship several times throughout the year.

Parents

Students learn more about faith from their parents and grandparents than from anyone else. In April of 2011, our congregation began a two-year coaching process with Vibrant Faith Ministries, which “equips congregations, households, and individuals to live a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and share the Christian faith among all generations.”

The Education Committee has found an opportunity to help incorporate Vibrant Faith’s purpose by asking parents to rotate the responsibility of leading in your children’s ChurchSchool classrooms. This is a one-year pilot model that will be evaluated by the Education Committee at the end of the school year.

Parents can sign up for the dates and Bible stories they would like to teach, and all of the lesson material is accessible online through the curriculum, Spark.

Church School of Two & Three-Year Olds

If you have a two-year old, or a three-year old who is not quite ready to join a preschool class, there is a ChurchSchool class just for you!  Parents or grandparents, bring your student to the nursery on Sundays at 9:30 a.m., or Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m.  Using colorful cards, our littlest ChurchSchool kids will learn the same stories as told in worship that week, and learned by all ChurchSchool classes.
