As a congregation, one of our visions is “Growing Deeper.” Through Sunday morning adult classes, we’ll seek to be “Growing Deeper in the Bible, Book of Faith.” In this first four-week session, we’ll examine five key principles that Lutherans follow when studying or interpreting the Bible. The principles are:
• Law and Gospel
• Seeking Jesus Christ
• Scripture Interprets Scripture
• The Meaning of the Text
• Public Interpretation.

As we are “Growing Deeper in the Bible, Book of Faith,” we’ll learn about three approaches or methods of studying the Bible. During these three weeks, concluding Sunday, Oct. 26, these are the three methods we’ll explore:
• Devotional Reading (Growing in Faith)
• Historical Reading (Growing in Knowledge)
• Literary Reading (Growing in Understanding) |
