TODAY is the First Sunday in Lent. The liturgy will change as we begin to use the Kyrie, and replace the Alleluia Verse with the Lenten Verse on page 125. The “Alleluia” is an Easter word of celebration. In the season of Lent, the “Alleluia” is put away until Easter Sunday. In its place we use a Lenten acclamation: “Let your steadfast love come to us, O Lord. Save us as you promised; we will trust your word.”
FLOWERS are given today by Dennis & Nancy Johnson in memory of their son Tim, and in memory of former TMI President Larry Strand.
NEW HYMN: Today we will learn hymn #335. It’s a Lenten hymn called Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross. The text was written by Fanny Crosby who was probably the most prolific hymn writer in history. Though blinded at six weeks of age, she wrote more than 8,000 hymns, including hymn #638, Blessed Assurance.
CONFIRMATION MENTOR GROUPS WILL MEET on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. All students must attend this session. Please note that the meetings will be over at 8:00 p.m.
WELCOME to the Lord’s Table. All the baptized are invited to receive the Sacrament. You may stand or kneel to receive the elements. Children who commune may extend their hands; those who don’t yet commune should have hands folded and they will receive a blessing. Gluten-free wafers are available for those who cannot have wheat products. White grape juice is available for those who cannot have wine. Let a pastor or server know when communing.
